2018

The criteria for this year's journal quilts is a simple one - 7" x 9" landscape format.  This is a highly manageable size and one that lends itself to making a lot of work easily.

For this year's challenge I decided on the theme of "Bark".  There are thousands of inspirational tree barks with fantastic colour, shape and texture just crying out for free interpretation in textile and stitch.  It's a subject I've been thinking about for a long time but haven't had the "push" to get on with it until now.  And I resolved to use whatever I have in my studio - no need to buy anything to make the little quilts.

My plan for using the finished quilts?  A book.  The pages/quilts are small and firm enough to make into pages and there is a satisfying feel when handling them.

These are the first of the quilts and more will be posted as and when I make them.  I suspect that I will make more than the mandatory twelve!
