I will be having my third solo show, "Poppies Sown in Thread" at Artisan Gallery from 22 April to 9 May 2015. The work has developed out of the research I did for the series of World War 1 quilts but it is emphatically not a Great War exhibition.
The show consists of wall hangings depicting the life cycle of a poppy - from buds pushing up towards the light to empty seedcases. I have monoprinted, painted, stencilled and altered photographs to create the works. And all the materials used were those already in my studio as nothing was bought to make the pieces - recycling to show the cycle...
My blog entries for 10 and 11 April show some of my sketchbook pages, samples and the development of the work; and the entries for 7 May show the displayed works and pictures of the private view.
The gallery at 80 Harlesden Road London NW10 2BE is open Wednesday to Saturday 11am to 5pm and I will be there all day on each of the Saturdays.
