Kimberley Irwin's encyclopaedic book, published in March 2015, should become a well used reference guide and source of inspiration in surface design for the student and experienced fabric artist, designer, costumier and dress maker. It covers a wide range of techniques including dyeing, discharging colour, fibre and fabric manipulation, embroidery and embellishment. The instructions are comprehensive and well supported by photographs and diagrams. I was pleased that some of my work with burnt lutradur was featured in the book.
